Mario Tagliazucchi

I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) (2004). Between 2004 and 2009, I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Ernesto Calvo, focusing on the layer-by-layer self-assembly of redox polymers. After completing my PhD, I traveled to Chicago, USA, where I did a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University, working with Professors Emily Weiss and Igal Szleifer at the Non-Equilibrium Research Center (NERC). During this time, I conducted theoretical and experimental research on self-assembly (in equilibrium and out of equilibrium) and transport at the nanoscale. In 2015, I joined DQIAQF-INQUIMAE, where I am an Assistant Professor and an Independent Researcher at CONICET. I was a Fulbright and Alexander von Humboldt Fellow. My current research focuses on the self-assembly of soft materials (polymers, colloids, surfactants) and the applications of the resulting supramolecular materials in energy applications. I study these problems using a combination of theoretical modeling methods based on statistical thermodynamics and experimental techniques, collaborating with other researchers in our group, as well as from other institutions in Argentina and abroad.

His research areas include the modeling of peptide amphiphiles, nanoparticle supercrystals, and polymeric electrolytes for batteries, as well as the development of redox polyelectrolytes for flow batteries.
